I enjoy spending time with Sam, and he dotes on me like I'm a precious jewel, but gosh, sometimes a girl needs her space.

Since January, we have spent every weekend together. That means that, for not one weekend, have I been able to do my fun SBGs (Single Girl Behaviors), which include, but are not limited to:

1. leaning into my bathroom mirror for at least ten minutes and popping every blackhead that I see,

2. listening to Tears for Fears,

3. farting as I see fit,

4. neglecting to wash my hair all weekend,

5. choreographing one-woman disco dance-athons,

6. continuing my brainstorming book of possible novel plots.

Speaking of novel plots, I told my students about the story I wrote years ago about cloning. They were amazed at the plot.

"That's very "Da Vinci Code," they noted. "You should turn it into a novel or a Hollywood script."

"But," one particular smart senior mentioned, "it's better to write the novel and sell the movie rights. Then, theoretically you get paid twice. Then you can get more money for helping write the screenplay."

I thought about it, and realized that, yes, it was very Da Vinci Code. Not in the sense that it's intelligent, but that it's creative, original, and possible.

I really think I'm going to write this novel. Then sell the movie rights and aid in writing the screenplay.

I think my lead character is going to be Julianne Moore. With Dakota Fanning as the spooky looking child.

Ah, to dream...
